The Characters

Clara AI image.jpg

Clara Jane Andrzejewski put herself through broadcast school with a dream of working her way up to radio stardom in a big city. But first she has to navigate life at a small market station in northern Michigan. Announcing the lost pet reports and playing music by Kenny G and Michael Bolton aren't her idea of glamor, but she is more worried that she will play one too many records at the wrong speed and lose her job before her career even gets started.

AI Seth.png

Seth Jones (real name Seth Butkiss) has been WRTV's morning man for 8 years, and has worked in radio since he was 19. His natural style on air is something Clara aspires to. Seth's popularity on air gives him a high PIA factor (pain in the ass). He can get away with things that other staff members can not. He is recently divorced when Clara comes to the station.

AI Ed 4.jpg

Ed Gildenstern is the station's program director. His job is to make sure the station runs smoothly, the owners are satisfied and the staff member's egos can be kept in check. He mostly tries to do this by posting memos that the morning team mocks and ignores.

AI Leslie.jpg

Leslie Ash is the station's traffic director and office manager. She quietly keeps everything running smoothly and keeps on top of all of the gossip. She usually has the best overview of what is happening at the station.

Rad AI.jpg

Music Director and Afternoon Drive Announcer Rad Farr is described by Leslie as "the kind of guy who would put on his own aircheck as romantic background music." He takes his show very seriously and he is sure that Clara is only in her position because the station needs one female voice.

The morning show is rounded out by the news team of Al "Can't You See I'm Overworked" Lear, who is always running off to catch a news feed or call from a member of the County Board of Supervisors, and Bill Katz, who is a real meteorologist. Don't ask him about the weather unless you really want to know.
